When Mother Nature Has other plans

Well, Mother Nature really screwed up my dinner plans!

I was supposed to be grilling chicken for dinner and meal prepping lunches for the week. Instead, I’m having cottage cheese for dinner because Mother Nature decided to throw a full-blown tantrum. We are currently dealing with torrential rain, thunder, and strong winds. The temperature has even dropped dramatically. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for grilling!

Other than tonight’s weather fiasco, the rest of my weekend went very well.

I took a personal day on Friday and went to test drive a car. My GMC Terrain had served me well for almost 10 years, and I truly loved it. However, with the number of miles I drive for work and the fact that it had started developing little issues here and there, it was time to say goodbye.

I’ve been struggling with this decision for a few years, but especially over the last several months. I haven’t had a car payment since 2024, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to comfortably manage one again. There were also a few other reasons that made me hesitant about making such a big purchase.

For the past three weeks, one particular vehicle kept showing up in my Facebook feed. Every time it appeared, I’d scroll right past it. Yet somehow, it kept finding its way back to me. Finally, I decided to message the dealership and set up a test drive.

Honestly, I wasn’t even sure if I’d qualify for an auto loan. But what could a test drive hurt? It wasn’t a commitment. It was simply a chance to see if I liked the vehicle.

The experience was completely different from my last car-buying experience. They handed me the keys and told me to take it out on my own. No salesperson talking nonstop. No one pointing out features while I was trying to focus on driving an unfamiliar vehicle. It was just me, the road, and the music on the radio.

I took my time, drove around, and even stopped to check out a few things on the outside of the vehicle. I loved the way it handled and was secretly hoping they could work some magic with the numbers while I was out driving.

When I returned, I sat down with the salesperson, explained my situation, and told him where I’d like my payments to be. He said, “Let’s see what we can do.”

About 30 minutes later, he had everything figured out and had several loan offers from banks ready for me to review.

Then he asked, “Do you want to take it home today?”

My response was, “I can do that?”

Never in all my years of owning vehicles had the process moved that quickly.

Of course, I said yes!

He sent me home to clean out my Terrain while he finished the paperwork. When I returned, we completed the signing, made the insurance call, and before I knew it, I was driving off the lot in my new-to-me 2021 Chevy Trailblazer RS.

This is by far the fanciest vehicle I have ever owned. It has all the bells and whistles. I even have my very first sunroof!

And if you know me, you know my favorite color is aqua/turquoise. Well, this vehicle happens to be a rare color called Oasis Blue. A friend of mine has one too, and she told me Chevy only produced that color for a couple of years, making it somewhat uncommon.

Looking back, I honestly think my guardian angel had a hand in bringing it all together.

Friday morning started with just enough rain to make me notice, a sign from my Gram. đź’“ Sometimes life has a funny way of nudging us in the direction we’re meant to go. Everything seemed to come together so perfectly that I can’t help but think someone was looking out for me.

I truly feel lucky that it all worked out.

So, thanks, Gram. I think you may have had a little something to do with this one. ❤️

So even a little rain, or in this case a lot of rain, isn’t enough to dampen my good mood.

I can’t wait to drive my new Trailblazer to work tomorrow!
