New Friends in the Neighborhood

This past week has been nothing short of magical for Bella and I. We’ve made some unexpected new friends—a family of deer!

Every day, we’ve spotted them playing in my neighbor’s side yard, which sits right between our houses. Bella has taken it upon herself to be the self-appointed deer monitor, barking enthusiastically from her front porch chair. It’s quite the sight to see her so invested in our new visitors.

But last night was something truly special. During our final potty trip of the day, we crossed paths with the deer in the most serene way. They were strolling right on the sidewalk at the corner of our house. We paused to watch them as they made their way to my neighbor’s house and gracefully walked up his front walkway.

There’s something so majestic about the way they move—calm, confident, and utterly unbothered. I couldn’t help but feel in awe of the moment. What makes it even more incredible is that we don’t live in a rural area. Seeing wildlife like this, right in our suburban neighborhood, feels like such a gift.

Not the actual deer

It’s a reminder to pause and appreciate the beauty around us, even in the most unexpected places. Bella and I will definitely keep enjoying these visits from our four-legged neighbors—and I imagine Bella will continue her “neighborhood watch” duties with gusto!🤣

wow what a magical adventure. I Just saw something on the Today Show about going on color walks. Maybe you and Bella could try something like that. Walking along and looking for as many things as you could spot that have a certain color l. kind of like I spy. or perhaps I spy, a certain kind of animal.

That sounds like a fun adventure! We will have to try it, maybe when the weather clears. Right now everything is either white or gray 🙄

I bet the deer are coming from the railroad tracks down at the end of St Helwig by my nieces house. I love coming upon deer in neighborhoods.
