A Skunky Start to the Morning 🦨🐾

This morning definitely didn’t go as planned. In fact, it all started the second Bella and I stepped out the door at 5:15 a.m. for our morning walk. 🌙

Out we went, leash in hand, when Bella suddenly spotted a black-and-white striped “kitty”… otherwise known as a skunk 🦨. Without a second thought, she charged after it, and of course, she forgot that I was attached to the other end of her leash. 🙃 Down I went, right on the outdoor stairs. 😣

I never even saw the skunk at first—it was so dark in the driveway and yard. But Bella’s eyes are sharper than mine 👀🐶, and she was on high alert. I finally caught a quick glimpse of the little intruder as it darted away. To make matters worse, my outdoor light has been out for weeks 💡❌, and replacing it has been on my to-do list. After paying for an exterminator to deal with bees earlier this summer 🐝, I’ve been holding off on calling an electrician. Thankfully, my brother promised to help me get it fixed when he has time.

All I can say is thank goodness that skunk decided to flee instead of spray 🙏😅. Between my startled scream 😱 and Bella’s fierce barking and growling 🐕‍🦺, I’m just hoping we didn’t wake the whole neighborhood. And while I ended up sore and achy for the rest of the day 🤕, I’m also grateful I didn’t break anything in the fall.

Here’s to hoping tomorrow’s morning adventure is a little less… wild. 🌼☀️
