Bees, Bees, and More Bees 🐝😭

In true Julie fashion, nothing can ever go easily. 🙃

So…the bees. My neighbor came over last night, sprayed, and sealed up the spot they were coming in and out of. I really thought that would fix the problem. Oh, how wrong I was. 😩

This morning, I woke up to find bees everywhere on the front porch. 🐝🐝🐝 We thought maybe if we left the front door open, they would fly out. So picture this: me, with a hood drawn tight around my head 👒, shoes on (because yes, they were on the floor too 👟), tiptoeing out to open the door. Then I sat like an idiot in a lawn chair on the front lawn for over an hour—guarding my wide-open front door so no squirrels 🐿️ or random critters would sneak in. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Of course, after all that, there were actually more bees in the porch than when I started.

Reading on the front lawn while on squirrel patrol.

At that point, I broke down and called a bee guy. 📞 Luckily, even though it was a holiday 🎆, I got ahold of someone. They originally told me they couldn’t come until tomorrow night, but a few hours later, I got a text—they were on their way! 🙌

By the time Eric (from Bugs and More Pest Control) arrived, my porch was covered in bees. And I’m not exaggerating—over 100 bees were on the floor, the ceiling, the windows, even the doors. 😳 Eric took one look and said, “Yeah…this is bad.”

He suited up 👨🏻‍🚀, pulled out some kind of powder-spraying gun 💨, and went to work. He treated the wall, the opening outside, and even found that they were sneaking in through the porch molding. He sprayed some other magic stuff ✨ to push them out, then opened the porch windows so the bees could escape. So now my porch windows are wide open with no screens—awesome, right? 🫠 But my anxiety is finally coming down. 💆🏻‍♀️

For safety, I can’t go in the porch for a few days 🚫🚪 (except when I bravely go shut those windows tonight 😬). He told me to check tomorrow after work, and if there are still stragglers, just vacuum them up. 🌀But don’t sit out there for another day or so.

I’m so thankful Eric was able to come today—fun fact, we actually went to high school together! 👩🏻‍🎓 Even though this was money I really didn’t want to spend 💸, and I hate the thought of spraying, I had no choice. These were aggressive yellow jackets, and they’re dangerous. ⚠️ A few years ago, I accidentally mowed over a nest and got stung 40 times. 😖 It was awful—I swelled up like a balloon 🎈 and got super sick from all the venom. 🤢 I wasn’t taking any chances this time

.

Thanks Eric!

Definitely not how I pictured ending summer vacation. 😭☀️🍂
