I may not be a mom in the human sense, but I am a Fur Momma—and let me tell you, the past 24 hours have been rough on this one! My sweet Bella girl was not feeling well at all.
It all started yesterday around noon when she suddenly stopped eating. She wouldn’t even touch chicken, which is normally her favorite! I tried scrambled eggs too—another one of her go-to treats—but nope, no interest. Instead, all she wanted to do was go outside and eat grass. Of course, that was a sure sign her tummy wasn’t happy.
So last night we just took it easy and went to bed early. But at 1 a.m., Bella woke me up wanting to go outside. We walked up and down our street with a flashlight while she nibbled on more grass. A few hours later at 3 a.m., she woke me again. This time, after more grass, she threw up. My poor girl. 💔
She finally let me sleep until about 7 a.m., but honestly, even when she did let me try to rest, I couldn’t sleep much. I was just too worried about her, listening for every little sound and wondering if she was okay.
By lunchtime—after a long nap for both of us (this Fur Momma was beyond exhausted!)—she finally ate two bowls of chicken and her morning treats. That was the first big sign of relief for me.
The rest of the day she continued to rest, and by afternoon she was ready for another walk. Tonight, she enjoyed a big bowl of chicken and jasmine rice, plus some of her dry food that I leave out all the time. Seeing her appetite return made my heart so happy.
I can’t tell you how helpless I felt last night, watching her not feel well and not being able to fix it. If she hadn’t started eating again by lunchtime today, I was ready to call the vet. Thankfully, it didn’t come to that.
So tonight, Bella and I are snuggled up, relaxing, and just being grateful that she’s on the mend. 💕🐶 Sometimes all a Fur Momma can do is love, comfort, and keep watch—and I’m so thankful that was enough this time.
