Instead, we celebrated my mom’s birthday 🎉🎂🎈 at my parents’ house. I still managed to get some grilling prep done, though—chicken 🍗 is marinating away in a zesty Greek marinade 🫒🍋🧄 as we speak. I haven’t decided on the sides yet 🥗🍚, so stay tuned for tomorrow’s dinner reveal!
While I was there, I got Dad’s meds 💊 organized for the entire week. ✔️ I also helped my brother 👨🦱 and sister-in-law 👩🦰 rearrange the living room 🛋️ to give Mom and Dad plenty of space to move around with their walkers 🚶♂️🚶♀️. It’s amazing how much easier it is to navigate when furniture is shifted just right!
Out in the garden 🌱🌞, I helped Dad by fertilizing and harvesting veggies 🥒🥬. His pepper plants surprised us with six ready-to-pick beauties 🌶️, but those tomatoes 🍅 are still playing the “not ripe yet” game. Good thing I brought him some of mine to hold him over 😉.
Oh—and remember that storm door 🚪 project my brother and I started? Well, I finally replaced the screen 🪟 all by myself! 🙌 Okay, so I borrowed Dad’s screen-fixing tool 🛠️, but the work was all me. Now the view out the door is crystal clear 👀✨.
One of my favorite parts of the day 💖 was giving Mom her special gifts 🎁. My parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary 💍🥂 next month, so I made them matching shirts 👕👕 to mark the milestone. I also made Mom a birthday cake–scented candle 🕯️🎂—and let me tell you, it smelled so good I almost wanted to take a bite 🤤!
All in all, it was a full, happy day 🥰—celebrating Mom 🎊, helping my parents 💕, checking off projects ✅, and making time for family 👨👩👦. Tonight is all about relaxing 🛋️, because tomorrow starts bright and early 🌅 with an eye appointment 👁️ (my favorite place… 🙄) and then more time helping Mom and Dad ❤️.
