Is it spring? You could have fooled me! Here in New York, it feels more like fall 🍂 with these chilly temps. But I didn’t let that stop me from getting outside and tackling some yard work and garden prep—rain showers and all 🌧️.

First stop: the greenhouse! 🪴
I wandered the vegetable section for a solid 45 minutes ⏱️, debating what to bring home. I’ve already started some seeds indoors 🌱, including tomatoes, but they’re not quite ready for the outdoors—and honestly, I’m not even sure if they’ll make it. Just in case, I picked up a few tomato plants 🍅. My pepper seeds didn’t take, so I grabbed some peppers too!
Of course, I couldn’t leave without a few favorites: green beans and cucumbers are a must 🫘🥒. This year, I’m also trying something new—Brussels sprouts and finger eggplant! 🥬🍆 I’m really excited to see how those turn out. I also added a small zucchini plant and some lettuce to the mix. I wish I could plant everything!

Next up: mulch madness. 🛻🪵
I rushed to get it down before the rain hit, only to realize I didn’t buy enough—classic! 😩 I’ll need 2–3 more bags, but the areas I did get to look so much better already.

Rain delay = reading time! 📚☕
While waiting for the weather to clear, I got a few chapters in on book #23 for the year. Once the rain let up, I moved on to transplanting some perennials into the backyard garden space I started last year 🌼🌸. The ground was nice and soft, perfect for moving the daylilies, daisies, and black-eyed Susans. I also plan to add some coneflower seeds soon.

This area was completely overrun with weeds and tangled purple irises 😬. I did keep a few irises, since it’s a shared garden space, but I’m thrilled with how much cleaner and more intentional it looks now!
The rest of the day? Pure relaxation.
Bella and I curled up to read some more 🐾 and tonight we’re planning to watch a movie 🎬 and try to stay warm under some cozy blankets!
Tomorrow’s forecast? Planting day! 🌿
